Many ERP systems are built around assumptions that don’t match how businesses operate in much of Africa and other emerging markets. Internet is unstable, mobile money is the main payment channel, roles overlap, and companies often grow from informal setups into structured organizations over time.
This talk shares practical lessons from building ERPNext systems for fuel, logistics, retail, and hospitality businesses operating in these realities. It focuses on how Frappe’s flexibility can be used to design workflows, POS, inter-company structures, and accounting that work in low-bandwidth, high-variance environments.
The session also highlights gaps in common ERP assumptions and discusses how Frappe can evolve to better support informal and semi-formal economies—unlocking a much larger, underserved global user base.
