My name is Kerolles, and I am a Frappe and ERPNext developer with almost four years of hands-on experience. I started with no technical background, but through self-learning, the support of the community, and invaluable guidance from my first company, Axentor LLC, I developed my skills. My time at Axentor played a key role in shaping me into the developer I am today. I now contribute not only to client projects but also to the Frappe and ERPNext core.
I still remember my first pull request to hrms that got reviewed and merged in January 2024. It made me very happy because I finally felt that I was able to give something back to the community. That experience encouraged me to keep contributing and to learn more about how the contribution process works.
In this talk, I want to share my journey and help more developers from the Middle East become active contributors. The ERPNext community in our region is very large, but the number of contributors is still small compared to the number of users. My goal is to make the contribution process easier, clearer, and less scary for new developers.
The talk will cover:
- Why contributing to ERPNext is important for your career and for the community
- How to contribute, including the different types of contributions and the available channels
- Practical tips for opening pull requests that get reviewed
- Guidelines to follow when preparing and submitting a pull request so it has a higher chance of being merged
By sharing real examples and lessons learned from my own experience, I hope to inspire more developers to start contributing and to show them that everyone can make an impact, even with small changes.
